Extracurricular Clubs and Activities

Members of the All County Band Club are band students who wish to prepare for All-County auditions, the NYSSMA solo and ensemble evaluation festivals.  Students wishing to participate should have a desire to develop performance skills.  All County Band meets by appointment with the club advisor.

All County Strings Club is designed to assist students preparing for the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) evaluations, usually given in the spring. Students are asked to choose a solo musical selection from a body of work in the NYSSMA Manual. The selection will be appropriate for the student's current ability. Pieces are organized in six different levels. The students are asked to prepare scales specific to their instrument and level. Sight-reading is also practiced in the group as this is a component of the evaluation.

The Dance Club is open to all students who want to dance!  Students of all grade levels and dance experience are welcome.  Choreography will be taught for a music video to be created later in the year.

The LMK Drama Club explores acting, singing, and dancing. After auditions in the fall, students will be cast in various roles and will participate in music, choreography, and scene rehearsals. The club culminates its work with a musical performance in November. As they say in the musical Pippin, “We’ve got magic to do /Just for you / We’ve got miracle plays to play /  We’ve got hearts to perform / Hearts to warm.”

The LMK Jazz Band allows students to become familiar with jazz music and this culture of music making.  Our goals are to introduce students to the ideas and characteristics of this unique art form, provide guidance on developing a basic jazz playlist, and develop rudimental skills in swing and phrasing in jazz performance.

The ultimate singing group takes its name from one of the most beautiful sounds in nature - the Skylark!  Singers blend in cool harmonies and learn amazing vocal repertoire, ranging from great pop songs to standards to light classical to infinity and beyond!! Strings Club is open to string players of all levels. Students who are new to playing an instrument and who want music reading practice will receive focused instruction on fundamental techniques. Experienced students will have the opportunity to play pieces from the standard classical repertoire.

Art Club provides a friendly open studio space for students to express their own ideas and interests. Weekly challenges are provided for inspiration if needed. Students can work collaboratively or individually based on their own ideas or concepts. Various mediums are provided throughout the year.  Students are also given the opportunity to showcase their work during the school year as well as the Spring Student Art show.

Buddy Art Club offers an inclusive art opportunity for students with developmental disabilities. Students will pair up with a peer "buddy" with assistance from additional adult support. We will work on building a variety of skills through art while making meaningful connections with school peers. After school transportation will be provided.

The Ceramics Club will expand students' art skills beyond the flat page or canvas. The club will focus on the 3-dimensional arts through the medium of clay.  We will spend time on individual and group projects.  It’s a great opportunity for those who want to learn how to mold something with their own hands  and further develop their art portfolios.

Members of the Yearbook Club have the opportunity to be part of a project that will last a “lifetime” as they capture the essence of LMK in the publication.  Participants will learn skills needed to put together the book everyone wants to see, taking pictures, planning, and laying out the pages.  A computer program, edesign, will be used to design a portion of the yearbook.

Chess Club is for students with any level of experience to develop skills and collaborate with peers. Students will have the opportunity to practice well-known chess moves, participate in mini club tournaments, and play friendly games with their peers.

The Coding Club is for anyone who has a passion for programming. It is for beginners hoping to learn about coding, as well as for those who are already experienced in the field, hoping to share their passion and collaborate with others on projects. This year, students will take on challenges with our new coding robot, Dash!

The Debate Club is for students who would like to learn and practice debate skills such as speaking, questioning, research, and writing and then put them to good use in debates.  Students will select and then debate important issues, events and topics of the day in preparation for competition.

Current ENL students in all grades meet once a week to work on projects and homework assignments, receive one on one language support, and partner with Japanese and Spanish speaking peer tutors from the high school.

The LMK Magazine was created to give students with an interest in writing, photography and art a place to develop and grow.  Our beautiful magazine titled Paper Planes showcases the work of LMK students. We host an amazing Poetry Slam, and we even have an annual Spooky Story Contest!  All students are welcome to join Paper Planes!

The Math Club is a place where all math lovers come together.  We meet once a week and we engage in various puzzles, games and problems.  We host a school wide 24-Game tournament twice a year.  It is a great way to relax and have fun. All are welcome!

Participants compete for LMK both individually and collectively against other schools.  Students will have the opportunity to Improve their knowledge and skills as they prepare for the challenging and motivating events in science and technology.  The LMK Science Olympiad Team participates in the annual Westchester County competition.

Newcomers Club fosters community building between new students to Harrison and students who wish to help acclimate newcomers to our school environment. These “Language Ambassadors” work closely with our new students through a peer mentorship that includes hands-on projects, speaking activities, and building-wide cultural and language advocacy initiatives. Anyone is welcome to join the Newcomers Club!

The Service Club allows students to become involved in a variety of community service initiatives that support LMK and members of the local community. Students have the opportunity to learn about and advocate for causes that they feel personally connected to, and participants become ambassadors in the school for making positive change. Some Service Club projects include Toys for Tots, Pennies for Patients and Harrison Food Pantry collections. Join us and help make our world a better place!

The purpose of the Wellness Club is to improve students’ physical and mental health through activities that foster team building, perseverance and resilience. Participants will engage in a variety of interactive activities that require the use of effective communication, mindfulness, risk-taking, problem-solving, time management, collaboration, planning and goal-setting.
