Letter from the Principal
Dear Community Member or Visitor,
Welcome to our website, which serves as a reflection of our commitment to students. We hope you find it a useful resource. Louis M. Klein Middle School is committed to developing the unique social, emotional and academic capacities of each student in our care. We pursue the district’s core values of equity, access, rigor and adaptability in order to ensure that each student receives a differentiated experience. Each year we welcome fifth-graders from across our four elementary schools. We take pride in bringing together students from four elementary schools and providing each individual student the academic support necessary so that he/she can succeed according to his/her potential. In addition, social and emotional growth is embedded in the programs at our school as students progress through childhood, early adolescence, teenage and young adult years.
Our school is committed to best practice in middle level education. Each grade level is created around teams of teachers and students designed to create a personalized learning environment. We are in the third year of the implementation of The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. This is an enriched approach to teaching and learning that extends through 10th grade. The middle years IB program aligns with Harrison High School’ s International Baccalaureate curriculum, and is accessible to all students. The middle school utilizes technology to support student learning, and students are taught in a blended environment that includes digital devices, and traditional materials.
We are proud of the accomplishments of our inclusive school. The LMK class of 2019 scored 98% proficient and 57% mastery on the New York State Algebra I Regents. This exam is given to almost the entirety of 8th graders providing them greater opportunities for studying advanced mathematics at Harrison High School.
We hope these resources are helpful in guiding your decisions for middle school education, and as an educational tool about the curriculum and our resources.
Please feel free to contact the school if you have any questions. The office staff will ensure that you are placed in contact with the staff member most capable of assisting you. My door is open to you. I enjoy sharing the wonderful programs we offer, and discussing how I can partner with you to best serve your child.
